Description

The Dehler 36 CWS Top is a yacht that does so many things exceptionally well. She is easy to sail yet fast and capable, with sleek good looks and surprisingly comfortable accommodation offering an abundance of storage.

How does the 36 CWS achieve this? Her celebrated designer, E. G. van de Stadt—renowned for creating seaworthy, well-balanced yachts—pulled out all the stops with this model. The Central Winch System brings all control lines back to the cockpit, where a single electric winch handles halyards and adjustments within easy reach of the helmsman. The self-tacking jib removes yet another task for those sailing single-handed or with a small crew.

At anchor or alongside, the interior is remarkable for a yacht of this size. The saloon features a generous C-shaped sofa and a large drop-leaf table, ideal for entertaining family and friends. Both cabins offer very large double berths, and storage is everywhere—even on the backs of the cabin doors.

Ceres is a comprehensively equipped example of the Dehler 36 CWS, the Top specification features upgraded interior woodwork, rather than the more spartan offering of the standard model and features 2022 standing rigging, Eberspächer heating, electric anchor windlass, radar, autopilot, hot and cold running water, a front-loading fridge with ice box, and much more. Her owners have kept her in Poole and maintained her conscientiously and continuously.

Owner's Comments

My father bought Ceres in 2008 to replace his much-loved Sigma 33. With advancing years he wanted a yacht better suited to short-handed sailing, but still capable of strong performance — something very important to him as an avid Sigma racer. The Dehler 36 CWS offered exactly what he was looking for.

I sailed regularly with Dad, and we had some of our best times aboard Ceres. We made countless trips across the Channel to Saint-Vaast, a favourite destination, with Maison Gosselin providing the finest ingredients for some alfresco dining. We also enjoyed many passages to Cherbourg, Weymouth and throughout the Solent. With his partner, Dad made two-month cruises along the north coasts of Normandy and Brittany, exploring further afield.

Dad took great care of Ceres — she was his pride and joy. The new sails and standing rigging show that he never hesitated to invest in her. As an engineer by profession, he genuinely enjoyed maintaining her.

Dad died in May this year after a short illness, having actively sailed Ceres right up until September 2024. While arranging his affairs, I kept a close eye on the boat, keeping her clean and running the engine regularly.

I would have loved to keep Ceres in the family, but I simply don’t have the time to run and maintain her. It is with great sadness that I now offer her for sale.
