Description
Original owner VISION 46 with a very high specification and upgrades, delivered to Lake Erie and commissioned by Catawba Island Club and Bavaria USA in June 2016. Â Sailed throughout the Great Lakes (always fresh water only) and always stored in heated storage. Â Constantly upgraded and meticulously maintained with all maintenance records available.Â
The "Vision" series was a step up from the "Cruiser" series with lots of opening hatches and port lights (14), with a 7'2" high ceiling. Â There are lots of hand-holds with two SS hand-holds on the ceiling. Â Unlike newer boats, this has padded panels, all rounded with no sharp corners or edges. Â The companionway is offset allowing for a larger galley and centerline sink. Â It also allows for a cockpit daybed when the electric table lowers and opens. Â Cushions were rarely used and in perfect condition. Â
This Bruce Farr designed boat has a much higher build quality that other production boats such as Beneteau or Jeanneau. Â It has a solid fiberglass hull, hand laid up, with no coring below the waterline. Â Bulkheads are glassed in which creates a very stiff boat. Â There is also no wood in the core or deck. Â Critical sail gear, such as winches have been up-sized.
"Garage" is fantastic, with a toolbox for tools and spares with a custom workshelf. Â It holds all the cushions, two folding bikes, spare life jackets, grill, spare anchor, and extra canvas (wings) with access from the cockpit or through the walk-in shower stall. Â
Two cabin version has the master forward and VIP aft with either two twin beds or conversion to a king bed using the headboard panels/cushions. Â Salono table is electric and drops down to a queen birth with cushions under the main birth. Â NAV station table can also drop to convert to a sette/single birth. Â We have spent a lot of time on board in luxury and comfort.
This boat needs nothing to cruise on the Great Lakes or travel down the ICW with 64' ICW mast and 5.5' shoal keel. Â
Electronics have been upgraded and batteries recently replaced. Â Bilge is dry and clean with all AC units draining into dedicated pump boxes.
Teak, gelcoat, interior show in outstanding, just about new condition. Â Low engine hours due to vast sail inventory allowing for sailing in very low wind conditions. Â Very easy sail handling, easy to solo sail and a fast sailing, over 8 knots in 12 knots of wind, or with the code at wind speed up to 8 knots of wind. Â Sails in all points of sail very well and is easy to reef single handed.Â
Easy docking with bow thruster and remote bow thruster control allows for single handed docking.
Owner to provide substantial turn-over, with all maintenance records, receipts and lots of spares, docklines, power chords, fenders; basically everything to you need to immediately start cruising.
After sailing the Great Lakes on Sofia and two previous boats, we are now moving to a larger, ocean/blue water boat to sail the Bahamas, Caribbean and East Coast. Â We purchased Sofia new at the 2015 Annapolis Boat Show with the intent to sail the Great Lakes and then take her to the Caribbean. Â But, we found a larger boat so we can have friends and family sail with us on longer passages. Â We have spent weeks/months on Sofia in luxury and comfort and are now ready to pass her on better than when we received her. Â Please call for a private showing. Â Email me for a full brochure, concept book, performance prediction (Polars) or other information: Â [email protected]. Â
Brig 10' dinghy is also available which is stored on the deck with either hard bottom slat floor or inflatable floor, paddles, two seats, padded seat/storage bag.
3.5HP dinghy motor also available, Torqueedo Travel Motor with Bag, spare high capacity battery and battery charger with spares with custom motor mount on aft rail. Â The Torqueedo sets up in 2-3 minutes on the dinghy and can be removed and mounted on the motor mount using one hand. Â The dinghy is lifted with a halyard and latched to the fwd deck which provides lots of room to move around on the deck to get to the anchor.
Owner will provide a high level turn-over and may assist with delivery (depending on final location).Â
