Construction

RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised A – “Ocean”

 

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

• Laminated fibreglass construction. AMEL resin infused GRP process with foam core above waterline level.
• Topsides painted white.
• Watertight bulkhead/comparts with watertight bulkheads and watertight doors as is standard on Amel 50. There are 5 x separate watertight sections – forward lazarette, forward cabin, saloon, aft cabin and aft lazarette.
• The engine/technical equipment room is self-contained and accessed directly from the cockpit.

 

Keel & Rudder:

• Bolted Lead Keel, 5.36Te, 2.15m draft.
• Twin rudder with wheel steering, operated via push/pull cable system.
• Emergency tiller.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

• 1 x Volvo Penta D3, 110hp diesel.
• ZF63 hydraulic gearbox.
• Electronic start and morse control at helm station.
• Shaft drive.
• Racor fuel filter.

 

Maintenance & Performance:

• Volvo engine hours: 1,778 hrs @ July 2025.
• Engine service annually plus any required replacement parts.

 

Propulsion & Steering:

• Feathering propellor.
• Spur rope cutter.
• Retractable electric (Sidepower) bow thruster (8hp).
• Two separate auto pilot systems (Furuno 711C) to provide redundancy.
• The second autopilot system includes a control station and second rudder actuator to give complete duplication of autopilot systems.

Electrical Systems

Voltage Systems:

• 230V systems from shore power, Onan 8KW generator, or Mastervolt 2500W invertor.
• 24V system for all services from sealed gel (AGM) battery bank, 600Ah.

 

Battery Banks:

• Sealed gel (AGM) battery bank, Mastervolt, (400 Ah standard plus 200 Ah extra thus 600 Ah total), original batteries. 
• Dedicated single 12V engine/generator start battery, with dedicated 12V charger, both new 2024.

 

Battery Chargers:

• Mastervolt 60 A 220/24V battery charger.
• Mastervolt 100 A additional 220/24V battery charger.
• Chargers housed in engine room. 
• Solar power– 2 x 400-watt panels mounted above aft davits with Victron controller.

 

Alternators:

• Engine alternator 120ampH.

 

Generator:

• 1 x Cummins Onan 8Kw 230V AC diesel generator (3-cylinder 2880rpm) in acoustic cocoon enclosure, located in engine room.
• Onan generator hours: 728.2 hrs @ July 2025.
• Serviced annually plus any required replacement parts.

 

Shore Power:

• 220V shore power.
• 32A and 16A shore power cables and convertors for different shore sockets.

 

Other Electrical:

• Solar power– 2 x 400-watt panels mounted above aft davits with Victron controller.
• 24/220v 2500W Mastervolt invertor.
• 800W invertor dedicated for the TV.
• Amel polarity check function and polarity changeover selector in aft lazarrete.
• 220V socket outlets and USB outlets throughout and waterproof USB outlets at helm station.

Plumbing Systems

Fresh Water & Water Heating System:

• Hot water calorifier, 50 litre, heated by both engine coolant and 220V electrical immersion heater.
• Freshwater pressurised system with (pressurised) accumulator.
• Diesel heating system, Webasto 7.6KW unit in engine room, providing piped hot water/glycol to hot air outlets in accommodation areas and heads.

 

Watermaker:

• Dessalator dual voltage (24V/220V) 100 litres per hour.
• Watermaker hours: 192.4 hrs @ July 2025.

 

Bilge Pumps:

• Main bilge pump in engine room.
• Secondary bilge pumps in engine room, and aft lazarette.

 

Seawater:

• Single seawater hull seacock with shutoff valve and strainer/filter supplies a sea-chest and outlets from feed the main engine, watermaker, aircon and generator, all housed in engine room.

Tankage

Fuel:

• Total fuel capacity of 650 litres.
• Stainless steel tank located in engine room.

 

Fresh Water:

• Total fresh water capacity of 600 litres.
• Tanks located in central bilge area, sectioned, with removable access ways for cleaning.

 

Grey/Blackwater Holding Tanks:

• Plastic blackwater holding tanks for both WCs, 80 litre each.
• Mounted above waterline level so gravity draining at sea by operating drain valve.
• Greywater tank sump with auto pump-out, located in saloon bilge, with removable access cover for cleaning.

Navigation Equipment

• Furuno Navnet TZT2 15” radar plotter at chart table.
• 15” repeater at helm station.
• B&G Hydra 5000 unit.
• Analogue repeater.
• Range of Instruments in the cockpit and at the chart table.
• Furuno FA50 AIS with VHF antenna.

• Portable 220V 2KW single induction hob for us in port, with purpose made fitted and matching gas hob cover.

• Combined clothes washer/dryer. 220V. LG 2 in 1, 7KG max wash, 4Kg max dry.
• Miele Microwave. 220V.
• Dishwasher. 220V. Bosch 6 place setting size.
• Nespresso 220V coffee machine Installed/mounted.
• Cutlery, a range of utensils, plates, pots and pans plus toaster, kettle, etc.

 

Other:

• Additional second (chest freezer) freezer in the saloon beneath starboard saloon seating, 24V. selectable to fridge or freezer operation, also selectable for air or keel cooling.

 

Heads/Showers:

• 2 x heads compartments, each with DOMETIC Masterflush 8100 series electric freshwater flush WC, shower, and washbasin. Gravity drainage to greywater tank.

 

Heating & Ventilation:

• Central heating. Diesel Aerothem/Webasto 7.6 KW unit in engine room, providing piped hot mix of water/Glycol to accommodation areas. Hot air outlet units in saloon, sleeping cabins and in both heads compartments.
• Air conditioning unit, DOMETIC 48,000 BTU, 220V single central unit providing chilled water/Glycol piped to chilled air outlets in the saloon and all 3 sleeping cabins.

 

Entertainment:

• Bose stereo speakers and subwoofer in saloon.
• Fusion radio/Bluetooth unit also allowing music control from phone/app.
• TV with 32” LCD flatscreen TV, vertically retractable for stowage at sea with dedicated 800W invertor, power supply, remote control, TV antenna and Apple TV box.

 

Lighting:

• Extensive low wattage LED lighting in all areas, including downlights, mood lights, floor lighting, bedside lights, chart table light, cockpit lights, deck LED flood lights, range of navigation lights.

Forward Cabin:

• Double centreline berth.
• Berth lifts to provide under berth stowage.

Starboard Bunk:

• 2 berths (upper and lower bunks), the top berth hinges upwards when not in use.
• Various stowage.

 

Guest Heads Compartment:

• Electric heads with freshwater flush.
• Basin.
• Separated shower stall with glass door.
• 2 x Doors to heads (to provide direct access from saloon or private ensuite access from forward cabin).

 

Saloon:

• Dining table to port which opens to double size if required with seating.
• Electric raise/lower saloon table that can convert into an extra-large sofa or to an extra double berth if there are more than six people aboard.
• Separate sofa to starboard, and top opening drinks bottle locker.

Rig:

• Profurl electric furling for mainsail, genoa and staysail operated from helm station, and with manual over ride if required.
• White painted spinnaker pole and required lines, this pole is also used for poling out the Genoa when sailing downwind.

• Staysail is self-tacking with sheet car track (and has Profurl electric furling) and has detachable running backstays (lines all operable from within cockpit).
