Description

CURRENTLY CRUISING IN THE BAHAMAS

In the southern hemisphere, where the winds roar and the waters are deep and unforgiving, you’ll find Cape Town, South Africa. This location has a high demand for capable BlueWater vessels. Robertson & Caine met this demand with their Leopard 58: Sea Dog. Sea Dog was built in 2020 as a BlueWater sailing catamaran and, through multiple upgrades in 2023 and 2025, is equipped for both long and short voyages. Designed for space and livability, she’ll comfortably house family and friends without compromising storage or cruising efficiency.

Sea Dog is a capable sailing yacht seeking a captain to put her to use. Whether you aim to spend time cruising in the Caribbean, enjoying easier, shorter sailing days and a friendly community, or you want to stretch beyond into the South Pacific, finding undiscovered islands, sailing across oceans, and immersing yourself in new cultures, Sea Dog will get you there. And once aboard, that intention becomes immediately clear.

ACCOMMODATIONS & LAYOUT

Sea Dog features a four-cabin, four-head layout, with the owner’s suite in the starboard hull. A room and a head for every person, ensuring privacy and removing the obligation to share a head with someone else.

MAIN SALON (SALOON)

The heart of every sailing vessel, where the family goes to plan, to relax, and to enjoy each other’s company. Sea Dog’s Saloon has wraparound windows for natural lighting, an open galley that connects with the saloon, and a large sliding door that effortlessly connects the cockpit with the saloon itself.

• Wraparound visibility

• Lounge and dining areas

• Navigation station

• LG Smart TV on motorized lift

• Integrated RayMarine displays

• Modern interior finishes

GALLEY

The galley is designed for serious use at sea, with generous refrigeration, ample workspace, and durable materials. Located for easy access from both the saloon and the cockpit, it supports both daily living and conversation while cooking. The current owners removed a dishwasher for more storage, but all electrical and plumbing remain for a potential dishwasher refit.

• Corian countertops

• 5-burner SMEG propane stove

• SMEG oven

• GE Microwave - (120V AC)

• Isotherm refrigerator/freezer (2023)

• Large storage capacity for provisions

OWNER’S SUITE (STARBOARD)

The owner’s suite occupies the starboard aft hull, offering a private retreat to rest and recover while also having generous storage and comfort for extended living aboard.

• Queen berth

• Private ensuite head and shower

• Hanging lockers and cabinetry

• Large windows and ventilation

• Dedicated owner’s layout

ENSUITE OWNER’S HEAD

The owner’s head is designed for comfort and durability, suitable for daily use while cruising.

• Private ensuite access

• Separate shower area

• Marine toilet (freshwater/saltwater flush)

• Storage cabinetry

• Ventilation via opening ports

GUEST STATEROOMS (PORT FORWARD, PORT AFT, STARBOARD FWD)

Each guest cabin is designed to provide comfort, privacy, and practicality for extended stays aboard. Whether it’s children, adults, or the elderly, they’re sure to have a comfortable and functional space for themselves.

• Queen berths in each cabin

• Private ensuite heads

• Hanging lockers and storage

• Natural light and ventilation

EXTERIOR & DECK

COCKPIT

The cockpit is open and spacious, with the ability to move furniture where you please. Not only does it serve as a functional space, but it is also a social space that connects directly to the saloon via a large glass sliding door. With 4 shallow storage lockers beneath the cockpit in the lazarettes, there is even more space for toys and gear aboard.

• Direct saloon access

• Electric dinghy / swim platform with remote

• Generous storage opportunities

• Hot & cold transom shower

FLYBRIDGE

One of the core features of Sea Dog is the flybridge. It serves as both a command center and a social space. With a beautiful 360º view, it’s an excellent place to converse with others and enjoy the scenery where you’re anchored, which also provides a cool breeze. Not to mention the summer kitchen, which includes an electric grill and a mini fridge for cooking and storing beverages. With throttle control and a wheel, you’re able to man Sea Dog, trim sails, and maneuver comfortably all from her twin helm seats. With a complete isinglass all-season enclosure, it provides protection from the elements if things get rough.

• Elevated helm with excellent sightlines

• Full flybridge all-season Isinglass enclosure (brand new)

• Seating and lounging areas

• Integrated electronics and controls

• Kenyon electric grill

• Raritan ice maker

• Vitrifrigo mini fridge

FOREDECK

The foredeck offers a space for sail handling, anchoring, and relaxation. When you step through the triple-dogged glass door, connecting you from the saloon to the foredeck, you’ll find yourself with forward-facing seating tucked in the bow of Sea Dog. There’s faux teak and an angled deck that allows water to drain at the base of the dogged door. It is the first spot to catch a cool breeze, and there is additional storage beneath the L-shaped settee seating. Additionally, there are two collapsible tables so you can enjoy a meal or a glass of wine under the shade of the roof, which spans over the entirety of the foredeck. Access to the windlass is located here also, ensuring you never miss a moment with your crew when working and getting Sea Dog’s anchor set.

• Wide, safe working areas

• Rocna 121 lb primary anchor

• Delta 88 lb secondary anchor

• Electric horizontal windlass

• Mantis anchor bridle with swivel

ELECTRIC SWIM PLATFORM

As a car is to a house, a tender is to a boat. With a large electric lowering platform, people of all ages can swim, play, and board easily without using the custom ladders on the sugar scoops. A space for those who want to sit in the water, the electric platform lowers enough to float the tender. If you’re into watersports, it is a prime location to launch a kite, take off on a wakeboard, etc. Previously upgraded for a bigger dinghy, it enables further exploration and access to the islands and docks.

• 14.5 ft AB center console tender

• 60 HP Yamaha outboard

• Custom dinghy chucks/platform for oversized tender (May 2023)

• Custom ladders for easy access

SAILS & RIGGING

Sea Dog’s sails and rigging are configured for dependable offshore performance and efficient sail handling. Her rig is engineered for strength and balance, supporting both passagemaking and comfortable cruising. Quality sail inventory and well-maintained running gear allow for confident operation across a wide range of wind conditions.

• Self-tacking jib

• Furling headsail

• Fully battened mainsail with reefing points

• Electric winches

WORKING AREAS & MACHINERY

These working areas and machinery spaces are designed for efficient operation and maintenance. Dedicated engine rooms offer clear access to propulsion systems, generators, and critical equipment for straightforward service and monitoring. Systems are logically arranged with an emphasis on reliability and long-range independence, supporting offshore cruising.

• Twin Yanmar 4JH110 diesel engines (~1,500hrs each)

• V-drive propulsion

SAFETY

Safety aboard Sea Dog is integral to her design as an offshore cruising platform. She is equipped with redundant emergency systems to support crew readiness at sea. Structural and electrical protection measures help safeguard critical onboard systems in challenging conditions.

• EPIRB

• 2 × Viking 8-person life rafts

• USCG safety package

• CMCE lightning protection system

• 360° pet netting at deck level

• Emergency equipment per offshore standards

SUMMARY

Sea Dog is a thoughtfully upgraded Leopard 58 that balances true offshore capability with liveaboard comfort, making her an ideal platform for serious BlueWater cruisers. Her lithium power system, expansive solar capacity, high-output water maker, and redundant propulsion systems are specifically suited to long passages and extended time away from shore. Whether crossing open ocean or settling into remote anchorages, Sea Dog is equipped to operate independently and reliably.

Under sail, Sea Dog’s stable catamaran platform, manageable sail plan, and protected helm stations give protection in a wide range of conditions. Below deck, generous tankage and well-organized machinery spaces support the demands of long-distance cruising, where reliability and ease of service matter most.

With multiple refits, upgraded electronics, and carefully chosen systems, Sea Dog represents an opportunity for sailors seeking a proven BlueWater catamaran. She is not simply prepared for coastal cruising but designed and equipped for life between continents—offering the freedom to sail farther, stay longer, and cruise with confidence wherever the horizon leads.
