Boat Handling When comparing a typical coach roof helm position versus the Nautitech Open 40 outboard helm position, the following should be considered: With twin helms on the hulls, (both with biminis on this boat) you have a lower centre of gravity, reducing pitching moment; you are driving the boat from a position where you have good visibility forward and aft, and you are able to see all four corners of the boat. You are always helming from the favoured side, and with the throttles at both helm positions having been included on this boat, you are always right next to the dock you are coming alongside. Changing command from one set of throttles to the other is as simple as pressing a button. Both helms are next to the cockpit, so the helmsperson is in touch with the rest of the crew.
